The Luxury

of Cashmere

Cashmere, known for its unparalleled softness and insulating properties, is the epitome of luxury in the textile world.
At Hanbo Textile, we cherish the exquisite nature of cashmere, recognizing its ability to elevate any piece of clothing into a symbol of sophistication and comfort.
Our commitment to quality ensures that we source only the finest cashmere from reputable global suppliers, ensuring each fiber embodies purity, warmth, and durability.

A Journey from the Heart of Mongolia

In the vast, rugged landscapes of Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, cashmere emerges as a symbol of both tradition and innovation for Hanbo Textile. This rare and exquisite fiber tells a story of exceptional quality, drawing from the luxurious softness and the rich heritage of distant, mystical lands.

Cashmere, with its soft allure, is meticulously harvested from the undercoat of the Capra Hircus goat, native to the mountainous terrains of Asia, particularly Mongolia and Inner Mongolia. These regions are characterized by their extreme climate—blistering summers and frigid winters—conditions that have shaped the resilience and unique qualities of the cashmere goat.

Thriving in sparse deserts with limited access to water and food, these remarkable animals develop a layer of fine, fluffy undercoat beneath their coarse outer hair. This layer serves as a natural insulator, effectively maintaining body temperature and providing protection against the severe cold. It is from this protective fluff that cashmere, known for its warmth and luxurious texture, is derived.

Why Cashmere Stands Apart

Cashmere's rarity and the intricate process required to collect the fine undercoat fibers from cashmere goats make it a precious resource. Unlike wool, cashmere offers a unique blend of lightness and warmth, making it ideal for garments that provide unparalleled comfort without the bulk. Its natural luster, softness, and the way it adapts to body temperature, make cashmere a preferred choice for high-end fashion and luxurious accessories.

The Diversity of Cashmere

The variations in cashmere can be attributed to factors such as the geographic origin of the goats, the fineness of the fibers, and the processing techniques used.

Mongolian Cashmere

  • Origin and Characteristics: Sourced from the harsh, cold climates of Mongolia, particularly the Gobi Desert, Mongolian cashmere is renowned for its exceptional warmth and softness. The extreme temperatures result in goats producing thick undercoats, yielding fibers that are incredibly insulating.

  • Fiber Quality: The fibers from Mongolian goats tend to be slightly thicker, generally ranging from 15 to 17 microns in diameter, which contributes to the robustness and warmth of the final yarn. Despite the slight increase in micron count, the cashmere retains a remarkable softness.

  • Applications: Ideal for creating winter garments that offer superior warmth and comfort, such as heavy sweaters, scarves, and coats. Mongolian cashmere is prized for its durability and ability to withstand colder temperatures without sacrificing luxury or comfort.

Italian Cashmere

  • Origin and Characteristics: While Italy does not produce its own cashmere fiber, Italian cashmere refers to the exquisite craftsmanship and processing techniques applied by Italian mills to raw cashmere sourced from around the world. Italian producers are renowned for their meticulous processing and dyeing techniques, which enhance the natural qualities of the cashmere.

  • Fiber Quality: Italian mills often select the finest raw cashmere fibers, focusing on those with the lowest micron count and highest length. The expert processing results in cashmere that is both incredibly soft and resilient, with a luxurious hand feel and enhanced color depth.

  • Applications: Italian cashmere is synonymous with high fashion and luxury, ideal for designer garments and accessories that demand the highest quality and finish. It is often used in exclusive collections, offering unparalleled elegance and style.

Chinese Cashmere

  • Origin and Characteristics: Chinese cashmere is primarily harvested in the Inner Mongolia region of China, where the climate is somewhat milder compared to Mongolia. This results in a slightly different texture and feel of the cashmere fiber.

  • Fiber Quality: The fibers are known for their exceptional fineness, often falling in the range of 14 to 16 microns, making it one of the softest types of cashmere available. The fineness of the fiber translates to a lighter, more delicate yarn with a luxurious feel.

  • Applications: Perfect for lightweight, next-to-skin garments that offer breathability and softness, such as fine knits, shawls, and undergarments. Chinese cashmere is sought after for its soft texture and versatility in fashion applications.

Harvesting with

Respect for Nature

The collection of cashmere fluff occurs between March and May, aligning with the goats' natural shedding cycle and ensuring harmony with the environment.

This practice not only respects the local fauna but also preserves the delicate balance of nature. The fallen undercoat, once a defense against the winter chill, is gently collected, revealing the soft, warm fibers known as cashmere.

Recognised globally for its richness and thermostatic properties, cashmere stands as one of the most treasured and luxurious fibers available.

Caring for Cashmere

To maintain the exquisite quality of cashmere, proper care is essential. We recommend gentle hand washing or dry cleaning to preserve the softness and shape of your cashmere garments. Storing cashmere items in a dry, cool place will protect them from moths and extend their life, allowing you to enjoy the luxury of cashmere for years to come.

Elevating Standards for Responsible Cashmere

Embracing the mission to ensure ethical and sustainable practices, Hanbo Textile has been at the forefront of efforts to raise the standard for responsible cashmere production.

Following the footsteps of industry pioneers, we have engaged in defining and implementing certification protocols that emphasize animal welfare and environmental stewardship, particularly focusing on our supply chain.

Collaborating with international bodies and participating in pilot projects have enabled us to contribute to the development of standards that ensure the welfare of cashmere goats and the sustainability of the cashmere industry.

This commitment led to the certification of our responsibly sourced cashmere, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards ethical excellence.
